Through the moisturized skin, the very hygroelastic particle of HyaSphereX could squeeze itself with the help of moisture in the extracellular matrix (ECM).
In viable skin layers, underneath stratum corneum, HyaSphereX could be uptaken by keratinocytes and fibroblast derived cells through transcellular and paracellular transportation.
Unique hydrophobic part within swollen HyaSphereX induces the expansion of the very porous particles of HyaSphereX in the deeper skin temperature making hydration even more effective as it excels the accessibility of hydrogen bonds between water and hyaluronic acid backbone.
Both water-soluble and oil-soluble active ingredients can be bonded (non-covalent) with hydrophilic/hydrophobic part of HyaSphereX, possibly hydroxyl groups for hydrophilic polymer/ hydrophobic interaction with hydrophobic crosslink sites. So the degradation is hindered.

HyaSphereX as a Delivery System
Retinol stability was tested in HyaSphereX™ solutions over 7 days at room temperature. Results show that 2-5% w/w of HyaSphereX™ increased stability 1.2-2.5 times compared to a water solution, indicating HyaSphereX™ enhances retinol stability.
To explore HyaSphereX™ solution’s impact on vitamin A-induced inflammation in keratinocytes, cells were pre-treated with HyaSphereX™-Vit A before UVA exposure. Vitamin A notably increased COX-2 expression by 64% compared to UVA alone. However, the addition of 2% HyaSphereX™ solution with vitamin A reduced COX-2 levels post-UVA exposure, indicating potential anti-inflammatory effects.
Nine healthy volunteers applied samples twice daily for 14 days. Results showed 2% Stabilized vitamin C with 1% HyaSphereX™ reduced melanin index 1.3 times more than 2% Stabilized vitamin C alone. Clinical data suggests HyaSphereX™ enhances the whitening effects of vitamin C in skincare products.
